More Pavilion hopping. Today was with my friend Wendy. We had planned to get in line and wait for the Ziptrek but it was a 5 hour wait, so we opted to mull about and take in some sights. The Ziptrek was set up so you could 'ZIP' across Robson St, and it was free, hence the long wait.

Happy St.Patty's Day.

Instead of drinking 'green beer' this year I was treated to some ALPINE drinking, with some friends. Yum. Rare treat out here, you can only buy it at this one pub, and that is ONLY if they have it in stock. We went to a maritime bar/pub called Atlantic Trap & Gill.

The mall enterance was still dressed as an Igloo. LOL.

Talk about putting out the wrong impression. Actaully it was almost kinda campy-style because Vancouver was soooo warm during the Olympics/paralympics.

Did some last minute pavilion hoping today...to get the one's I didn't see during the Olympics. A few pavilions were re-opend for the paralympics. Went to the BC one which was @ the Art museum.

It was cool. It looked like a rainforest sort of, with a canopy kind of thing. neat.

Also there was a plaque telling you a bit about the Spirit Bears in BC.

Thought I would snap this pic of young CB's @ the park. There were three in a row. (well a grouping)

Sometimes I like the small ones/or young ones.....you can get right up close to them and really see the actually blossoms.

But the CB's are still out & soaking it up. The thing about the rain is that sometimes I think it is heavy on the blossoms and they fall off, soggy, a bit too early.

Friday, my day off. Was out & about going to see some of the last of the open pavilions before the Paralympics is over.

The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Kits, and they look so nice close to the water, but I was trying to get myself in the shot...so I missed the water.

This was the big day.
Everyone I knew was a bag of nerves all day....
Watched the game on pins & needles, and I think perhaps the game took a couple years off my life. BUT....very worth it!
Couldn't have been a better ending to a better story. it was almost as if is was movie-scripted. Awsome game awsome day. then......
on down to the madness....
The city exploded with pride, emotion, and joy!!! The best day ever :)

Great CDN Northern House.
very cool pavilion and enjoyed the experience inside.

This is a pic of the huge pile of "groceries" put together to give us the perception of what you may have to 'order' for your household groceries if you lived up in the North.
I thought it was a neat concept. I liked it. and very eye-opening.

Spent time with Tara & Julie, had lunch shopped had some laughs. (I think it was this friday, perhaps I have my fridays mixed up) anywho....

CDN women's hockey win GOLD!
woohoo!
Was watching the game with Joy down on the waterfront, which was cool because when Canada won a gold medal the rings set up in the harbor would turn GOLD! very fun. and the fog horn would sound the first few sounds of Oh Canada.

(Obviously it was growing dark very quickly)

Olympic Spirit!!!

Took a pic of this chain of little girls.
They were walking around hand-in-hand like little cheerleaders. They were belting out "Let's go Canada, let's go. woo woo" "Let's go canada, let's go. woo woo".
Was so cute. They were sooooo psyched!

And...I think they made the news that night, and the newspaper.

sad sad day. we watched the CDN men lose to US in hockey.
Although we lost, the group I was with maintained their composure and had a smile on anyway.
This was me watching the game, still with pride but crying on the inside.

Saturday. met up with Joy....we did some stuff. (or at least I think it was this day, I took so many pics & I am behind so many days)
Saw some cool pavilions, enjoyed some friend time.

This pic is inside the aboriginal house, they showed a media show on the inside of this cool dome.
Hard to explain....but cool experience.

There were manhole type things all over the city, most were labeled with the part of town that you were in, but others were just decorative (westcoast style)

Sometimes I like small details in the big scheme of festivities. fun. lol.

There were many sites & sounds going on in this beautiful city during the games. And part of that fun was just random things and events happening in the crowds with the people/fans.

This pic represents random, yet neat, things I got to see/experience all over the city.

There were three of these people just walking around on stilts and it looked like they were skiing, or on skies. I have no idea who they were or where they were from.....

Go Canada Go!
This day saw the very first CDN men's hockey game VS Norway. We won!!!
This is a shot of the first goal that Canada scored in the 2010 Olympics!

I had my camera ready....waiting....I just knew we would score first....everytime we were in their end or it looked close... I turned on my camera, ready to get the shot.
Was hard to concentrate on the on/off button on my camera and drink my beer at the same time!!

Juat a random shot....
This was down by where the cauldron was set up on the waterfront. It is an illusion and worked very well.
Im outside the window of a building, and on the inside there was a huge 'Earth'/globe hanging there, and if you angled the camera just so.....ta-daa.

Although I cheated, and had to get someone to take the pic for me...I still really like it.

Happy Valentines Day!

This is Tara & I going to the venue Atlantic house. We had alot of fun, and it was the night we won our first GOLD on home soil. Way to go Alexandre!!!!
